The approach to the masterplan for the Inverness Campus has been driven by a desire to create a gathering place that is connected into the social and physical fabric of Inverness. The Campus will transform a site which is presently isolated by surrounding road and rail infrastructure and create a place designed to benefit both the student population and the local community.
The proposals for the Campus include sports and recreational amenities for the local community, which could include:
- Modern Swimming Pool
- Gymnasium
- Games Hall
- Multi-use outdoor pitches
- Parkland spaces
The aspiration is for the Campus to become a regional sports hub and a core training centre of excellence for athletes and other sports specialists.
The Campus will be accessible to all, a local and regional centre for people to come together, communicate and learn. For some people, such as students from outwith the city, the Campus will be their home. For others, it will be a place they visit regularly to work, learn, keep fit or just relax, and for some it will simply be a pleasant area they pass through on their way from one part of Inverness to another.
